Pharmapack Awards 2017 closing: Calling all pharma packaging and drug delivery innovators

Paris, 26th October 2016: Pharmapack Europe, organised by UBM EMEA, calls on all innovators across pharmaceutical packaging and drug delivery to apply for the Pharmapack Awards 2017 – before its closing submission date on Friday, November 11th 2016.

The awards have been a central aspect of Pharmapack since its inception in 1997, and bestow recognition to the most exciting innovations and breakthrough developments. In 2017, the Pharmapack Awards are focused on two categories: ‘Exhibitor Innovations’ and ‘Health Products’.

The Health Products category recognises health products (human/veterinary medicine and medical devices) that have been launched to market since March 2016 and before January 2017. This award acknowledges the successful collaboration of pharmaceutical companies and their packaging suppliers. Brand owners are encouraged to submit their entry quickly.

Award entries will be judged by a leading expert panel of independent doctors and pharmacists, including president of the jury, Professor Philippe Arnaud – pharmacist and service chief of the Bichat-Claude Bernard AP-HP hospital and France's National Agency for Medicines and Health Product Safety (ANSM) expert.

In contrast, the ‘Exhibitor innovation’ category is formed from an unmissable element of Pharmapack Europe, the Innovation Gallery. This platform offers a unique opportunity to discover all the new packaging and drug delivery solutions, showcasing them to the 5,100+ attendees from over 70 countries. Exhibitors who have launched new innovations since March 2016 are encouraged to join this bespoke platform – all participating products will be automatically entered into the Pharmapack Awards for Exhibitor Innovations.

For both categories, veterinary, pharma and biopharma companies can be considered, but entries should meet at least one of the following criteria: ensure proper use of medications, patient safety and improved use of medicines; significant steps towards sustainable packaging; and/or provide innovative packaging solutions or drug delivery technologies.

The winners of both categories will be revealed live during the Awards ceremony, hosted on the first day of the show, during the Exhibitor and Visitor Cocktail Party.

Last year’s winners include breakthrough innovations in user data communication systems, drug preparation solutions, protected injection devices, preservative elimination green chemistry, controlled oral drug delivery devices, canine innovative gel treatment and a coloured coded safety system for intravenous administration.

Running parallel to the Innovation Gallery are the Innovation Tours, which return in 2017, and enable companies already enrolled in the Innovation Gallery to have their technologies further championed by an industry expert direct to potential customers.

Adding to the celebrations in 2017, Pharmapack will also launch the Pharmapack Start-up Hub. This new addition to the event floor will showcase the most innovative start-ups, providing a dedicated space to exhibit. It presents a great opportunity for meeting potential customers, partners and investors and forging new relationships.

Anne Schumacher, Event Director Pharmapack, commented: “2017 is another extremely exciting year for Pharmapack as we celebrate 20 years with our biggest show to date. Pharmapack Europe is an integral platform to develop new ideas and explore patient changing solutions of tomorrow.

As the industry globalises, we are seeing new innovators presented from the US and the rest of the world, alongside our core European audience. In the last few years, we have seen an impressive increase in the number and calibre of entries and a growing appreciation of the prestige that winning an Award conveys on a company.

For the 2017 awards, we anticipate more entries than ever before, from across diverse geographies, further raising the bar in pharma packaging and drug delivery innovation.”

Vincent Tempelaere, CEO, Eveon - 2016 Exhibitors Innovations Winner for Intuity® Lyo - added: “Pharmapack is the ideal place, whether you are a visitor or an exhibitor. As a visitor you have a snapshot of the innovations on the market. As an exhibitor you have a lot of visitors coming to your stand. We are certain that the Pharmapack award we received this year helped generate a high number of visitors on our booth, curious to know more about our innovation. The Award is a strong acknowledgement of our innovative solution, and it is very important to us.”
