MOUNDS VIEW SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION
September 2012 Board Meeting
Tom Bye called to order the September board meeting of the Mounds View Softball Association (MVSA) at 7:03. The meeting was held at the Shoreview Community Center, Shoreview MN on Thursday, September 6, 2012.
Board members in attendance: Sue Blumer, Tom Bye, Betty Hurley, Ted Labey,
Jim Meyer (7:31), Barb Montero, John Peschel, Doug Schley and Greg Sherrill
Absent: Mark Hewitson, Chris Kelley, Jim Murphy
Guests: David Van House, Karin Wessburg and Daren Wilke.
President’s report ( Tom Bye)
Tom welcomed all our guests and did a quick run through of his checklist.
Secretary’s Report ( Barb Montero)
Barb reminded all present that Elections will be taking place at the next Board meeting.
The following gave permission for their name to appear on the Official ballot. Tom Bye, President, Ted Labey, Vice President of In House, David Van House, secretary. At Large positions, Sue Blummer, Mark Hewitson, Jim Murphy, Greg Sherrill, Karin Wessburg and Daren Wilke. Barb stated the next meeting was scheduled for Thursday, October 4th, 7:00pm at the Shoreview Community Center.
Treasurer’s Report (John Peschel)
All financial reports were sent via email. John also discussed significant income and expenses to expect for the balance of the year.
VP – Traveling ( Doug Schley)
Doug stated we have 9 teams in fall ball(2-10U, 3-12U, 3-14U, 1-18U) He noted we will need Field prep on Sunday, Sept 30th, for the Fall State tournament being held at Rice Creek.
In-House – (Ted Labey)
Nothing to report at this time
Concessions (Jim Meyer & Betty Hurley)
Betty stated concession for Fall ball doing quite well. A new grill was purchased.
Equipment (Jim Murphy)
Jim was absent from the meeting, but reported new soft toss nets were in and he would need
help installing them. Tom Bye, Ben Bye and John Peschel installed the soft toss nets the following Saturday.
Umpires (Mark Hewitson)
Mark was absent, but Tom mentioned that next year all umpires will be sanction for both ASA and NAFA. New uniform, shirt will list both ASA/NAFA on front.
MVSATournaments and Clinics (Greg Sherrill)
New Pitching and catching clinics coming this fall. A fee will be collected, but if player comes to 80% of scheduled sessions all fees will be returned, clinic will be given to them Free of charge.

Uniforms (Chris Kelley)
Chris was absent
Fields (Sue Blumer)
Sue offered to collect, organize and post job descriptions of the various board members to determine if more board positions are needed, and to provide continuity in the management of MVSA.
Discussion –
Continued discussion regarding options for a C level for the younger ages (10 & 12’s) It was decided that this option would be considered. More discussion is needed before try-outs.
Greg Motioned to adjourn the meeting, Tom seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned 8:21pm.
